Directions
Ouray is located in the SW portion of the state. We are approximately equidistant between Durango and Grand Junction. Driving time from either Denver, Salt Lake City, or Albuquerque are all around seven hours. The closest airport service is Montrose (MTJ) located 35 miles to our north, and Grand Junction is your next best bet (1.45 to 2 hrs drive) since road conditions over Red Mountain Pass can be very bad if you’re coming from Durango. If Red Mountain Pass is closed and you’re coming from the south, Lizard Head Pass between Cortez and Telluride is your next best option.
Getting Here…
If you fly into Montrose, your choices are to either rent a vehicle or hire a shuttle service for the 35-mile drive. We recommend the shuttle because Ouray is very simple to navigate on foot. During the festival we provide a donations only shuttle to and from the park, and around town. The Ice Park is just on the South end of town where Highway 550 switchbacks as it begins it’s climb toward Red Mountain Pass. The Ice Park is only a few minutes walk from Downtown Ouray.
The Ice Park Office
The Ice Park staffs an office at the Upper Bridge in the Ice Park. Head South of Ouray on Highway 550. After the first switchback, take your first right onto Camp Bird Road. The office is on your left just after you pass over the bridge.
