Events For Kids and Families

Kids of any age can try their hand at swinging the tools and kicking the ice. All equipment is provided and prizes are awarded to every kid who climbs.

The Ouray Ice Festival, the premiere
ice climbing event in United States, brings back the Kids Climbing
College for the 5th year. This free event introduces children of all ages to ice
climbing. Participants will learn about ice climbing in a safe and super fun environment at the kids beginner area which includes 9
spectacular routes designed with young climbers in mind. All gear is provided and awards are given to the participants.

This popular event is scheduled during the annual Ouray Ice Festival, Saturday JANUARY 9th AND Sunday JANUARY 10th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Ouray Ice Park in Ouray, CO. The Ouray
Ice Park gratefully thanks Mountain Gear, Petzl, and The North Face companies for
their continued support of this event.

Also, check out our kids daytime climbing clinics held Saturday, December 19th and Saturday, February 13th at the kids wall. These clinics will be held from 10am till 3pm each day.

This year the Ouray Ice Park is kicking off a free kids instructional ice climbing program to get the little tikes involved in the sport.

• Kids from 5 years old to 16 years old are welcome.
• The dates for the program are Saturday December 29th and Saturday February 13th, 2010 from 10am till 3pm.
• The free clinics will be located at the kids wall on CR361 at the Ouray Ice Park.
• We will light up the kids area using spotlights and offer free instruction.
• All climbing equipment will be provided.
• Kids will need to wear a warm coat, warm pants, gloves and a hat.
• We will have warm tents for the kids to hang out in, hot cocoa and a bonfire.
• Parents will be required to sign a liability release waiver prior to their child being allowed to participate.
